Maggie and I met about four years ago when she started the morning show on Star 96.7. She and I became friends and this is what I have learned about her in the past four years. Whether I remember it all right I’m not sure but this is what I got.
Maggie was raised in Lisle with two older sisters. She went to Naperville schools including North Central College. I think her major was broadcasting, and she must have minored in English, because she is a wiz at spell checking. In fact, I can guarantee that by the time you read this it has been corrected for proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling by Maggie.
I know some of her favorite TV shows are The Office, Weeds, Curb Your Enthusiasm, American Idol. Oddly enough I couldn’t tell you her favorite music. I assume it’s all the music we play. And movies, a lot of the movies she’s into are artsy, low budget stuff and documentaries.
Before Maggie started working in radio she was a magician’s assistant, and I think she worked at The Gap or something.
The number one question I’m asked about Maggie: “Is she Hot?” and my answer is “She’s a redhead, we all are.”
My friendship with Dan began when he was a fresh-faced intern from the Illinois Center for Broadcasting. In the early days of Dan's time at Star 96.7, people would often ask if we were related to one another (because they stereotyped that all redheads must be from the same family). We're not related.
Dan grew up in and around Joliet, graduating from Joliet Catholic. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends, walking his cool (blue-tongue) dog, cooking, having red hair, being left-handed, making “that's what she said” jokes, and watching movies. Some of Dan's favorite TV shows include Rock of Love (seriously), Lost, 24, The Office... and probably other dude shows that are on networks I've never even heard of...
If I had to categorize Dan's taste in music, I'd say that he likes The Wallflowers – One Headlight. That might literally be the only song I know that Dan enjoys.
Even though Dan is a left-handed ginger kid and the media has brainwashed you into thinking he's weird and/or a bully, don't be afraid of him... he's very friendly!
